How Long Does It Take to Build an MVP?

A tightly scoped MVP can go live in about a week. Bigger first versions often take longer because they carry extra features and wait on slow feedback. At SevenDayShip the Launch Sprint gets your first version live on your domain in 7 days.

Why MVP timelines slip

Most MVP timelines slip for boring reasons. The scope keeps growing, nobody decides what's in version one, and feedback sits in an inbox for days. Writing the code is rarely the bottleneck anymore.

How fast someone can type matters far less than two things you control: how small you're willing to make version one, and how quickly you answer questions while it's being built.

A 7-day timeline, day by day

A Launch Sprint starts on Day 0, when you send what you've got: Figma, a Lovable prototype, a doc or a Loom. I look at it before we talk. Day 1 is one working session together, and you leave it with a scope, a fixed quote and a launch date. From Day 2 to Day 7 we build, and you get a progress link every day so you can see it come together. On Day 7 it's live on your domain and real users can sign up.

What makes an MVP in a week possible

A week works when version one does a single job well, which usually means sign-up, the core feature and maybe payments. Everything else waits for the next release.

It also helps that you work with me and the same small team directly. The people who scope your product are the people who build it, so a question asked in the morning can be answered and built by the afternoon.

When it takes longer

If you need a fuller product than a first version, that's the Build plan, from $15k. Full product, a new release every Friday until it's done.

After launch: a release every Friday

After week one we plan on Monday, you get a preview link midweek, and we ship on Friday with a changelog you can forward to investors or users. Product Partner covers that at $4k a month, rolling monthly.

A product I built and run

Clarity.poker is one of my own products, an AI poker tracker for Mac with hand history, leak analysis and session tracking. I ship it the same way we ship client work, in small releases, often.
