Lovable to Production: Turning a Prototype Into a Real App
A Lovable prototype is a great spec, but it usually needs work on login, data security, payments and error handling before real users touch it. You can fix it yourself with a checklist or hand it to someone who does this weekly. SevenDayShip takes Lovable prototypes as a starting point and gets a first version live in 7 days.
What a Lovable app needs before production
Tools like Lovable are good at getting an idea on screen fast. They're weaker on the unglamorous parts a stranger on the internet will poke at: who can read which rows in your database, what happens when a payment fails, and what the app does when an API times out.
None of that shows up in a demo, but it will in the first week you have users.
A production checklist for your prototype
Go through these before you share the link widely.
- Test auth. Can users reset passwords? Do sessions expire? Can someone reach a page by guessing the URL?
- Look at the access rules on every table. A common problem in AI-generated apps is data that any logged-in user can read.
- Make sure no API keys are in the front-end code.
- Try failed cards, cancelled subscriptions and webhooks that arrive twice.
- Decide what users see when something breaks, and make sure you hear about it.
- Move to your own domain, set up real email sending and publish a privacy policy.
Fix it or rebuild it?
If the prototype's data model makes sense and the code is readable, fixing it is fine. If every change breaks two other things, stop patching and treat the prototype as the spec. The screens and flows are already decided, which is the hard part, and a clean build goes faster because of it.
How we work from a prototype
On Day 0 you send the Lovable link (or Figma, a doc, a Loom), and I look at it before we talk. On Day 1 we scope it together and you get a fixed quote and a launch date. By Day 7 it's live on your domain with real sign-ups. Auth and Stripe payments are part of the build, and you own all the code.
Something I built and run myself
Clarity.poker, an AI poker tracker for Mac, is one of my own products. It does hand history, leak analysis and session tracking. Because I run it myself, I deal with the same gap between a demo and a product that you do.
Send me your prototype
Paste your Lovable link into the 60-second form and I'll tell you when it can be live. Get your launch date or check pricing.
